Publishing a photo of Soleimani, Moore rhetorically twitted “Hello fellow Americans. Do you know this man? Did you know he was your enemy? What? Never heard of him? By the end of today you will be trained to hate him. You will be glad Trump had him assassinated. You will do as you are told. Get ready to send your sons & daughters off 2 war.”
He said that Americans are being led into an unwitting war with Iran after the US killed Soleimani.
The filmmaker praised Iranian cinema and filmmakers in another post later on and suggested his followers to watch ‘Men at Work’ by Mani Haqiqi.
Moore is not the only celebrity to hit the US president over the airstrike.
Soleimani, 62, was killed during a US drone strike near Baghdad International Airport. The general was one of the top military leaders in Iran. The country’s leader warned in the aftermath that the US will face “severe retaliation” for the targeted attack.
Democratic front-runner Joe Biden and other Democratic presidential candidates criticized the drone strike. The former vice president said that the attack against Soleimani could lead to “multiple Iranian attacks by multiple means on multiple targets.”
Soleimani was the long-time leader of the elite Quds Force, a branch of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
